Requirements: 1 Year prior lampwork experience of some kind. If you do not know how to encase, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING THE ENCASEMENT COURSE. It is STRONGLY recommended that you practice encasing prior to taking this class, if you cannot encase without smearing or distorting internal designs you will need to take the encasement course or wait until your encasing skills have matured. Starleen’s Studio is a professional soft glass beadmaking studio located in Southern New Jersey.
Our goal is to provide private courses in beadmaking that adapts to each individual’s approach to learning hot glass as an artistic medium of choice. Starleen is an experienced, highly skilled artist who specializes in fine gallery quality floral construction and encasement. She is a published glass artist with a passion for training, encouraging personal artistic vision, and the practice of excellence!

Introduction to Lampworking : Beadmaking & Beyond !
All course fees shown include the cost of: -
-Private studio instruction on your own torch without exception. Two students maximum ensures that YOU receive all the personalized attention required to master the lesson at your own pace without competing for the instructors attention. This gives me the freedom to completely gear the lesson in the direction that best suits how you need to learn to melt glass! Bookings of three allowed upon request only.
-All the glass & raw materials you will need for both days. I keep over 2000lbs of glass from Effetre, Vetrofond, Kugler, Reichenbach, Bullseye, Satake, Lauscha, ASK, Messy Color, Veiled 96coe Cane, Double Helix, Val Cox Frit's, Glass Diversions Frit's, GGG Glass Cane & Zanfirico, Gaffer, Momka, NorthStar, Glass Alchemy, Trautman/TAG glass, & more for student use only. Glass and tool stock are for student privileges only, no Internet /walk in sales permitted. Specialty glass assortment packs are available to studio clients ONLY within the home gallery area.

-Access to an extremely impressive collection of every brass, graphite, steel, & tungsten tool imaginable used to sculpt glass into beads, mini paperweights, pendants, & marbles. We have over 40 bead presses & mashers alone! Try out the tools in house before you purchase your own!
- Trial of different torches hooked up to the OSGI 15 oxygen generator verses bottled oxygen. NOTE: if humidity is high using the osgi is not available.
- AUR-92 / Phillips basic eye protection be provided. PLEASE bring your own pair for comfort if desired.
-Your beads are kiln annealed, and mailed back to you at no cost.
-New students are given a coupon to cover your first hour of studio torch rental time.
-Printed material packet (intro course only) : Safety booklets, supplier catalogs, ISGB membership information, listings on Internet forum groups AND of course a Notepad, Pen/Pencil & a binder to hold all your notes/printed materials.
- OUT OF STATE STUDENTS: A pick up/drop off service from my recommended list of local hotels if flying in. Car rentals or a shuttle service airport pickup & drop off is available and we can assist you with making the arrangements. The drive time from the Philadelphia air port to your hotel is 20 minutes. It is as simple as that! Detailed instructions and studio address provided upon receipt of the course deposit. We make travel EASY on you!
Lastly, the studio WILL provide you with hotel / transportation / car rental recommendations however YOU must book them and decide which is best independently. We only recommend accommodations that have received wonderful feedback from former students. The recommendations are issued within one week of enrollment. If you do not secure your hotel / travel arrangements in time, it is your responsibility to locate & secure new arrangements. The studio will not refund deposits and you will be charged the entire course fee. We do not assist you with determining how to secure your flight, connecting flights, driving directions out of state and such.
